How to Use

For Clothing

• Place clothing in the washing machine.
• Wash using Nikwax Down Wash Direct.
• Reset the washing machine settings and add Nikwax Down Proof to the washing machine dispenser.
• Set the washing machine to a warm water cycle, start the machine, and allow it to run until the cycle is complete.
• Nikwax Down Proof can also be applied during regular hand washing.
• To dry - only if permitted by the product label - spin three times and tumble dry until all clumps of down disappear.
• To break up clumps of down formed during drying, you can use clean tennis balls or sports shoes (that will not melt) placed in a clean pillowcase.

For Equipment

• Immerse sleeping bags in lukewarm water in a basin or bathtub.
• Add Nikwax Down Proof, stir, and leave to soak for 5 to 10 minutes.
• Rinse under running water, allow to drain, and gently squeeze excess water from the sleeping bag.
• To dry - only if the label permits - spin three times and tumble dry until all clumps of down disappear.
• To break up clumps of down during drying, you can use clean tennis balls or sports shoes (that will not melt) placed in a clean pillowcase.

Dosage

• For washing clothing, use 3 full caps (150 ml) of Nikwax Down Proof per item of clothing and 6 full caps (300 ml) for two items of clothing.
• For washing sleeping bags, use 6 full caps (300 ml) of Nikwax Down Proof for 4 cm (depth) of water in a bathtub (it is recommended to clean or impregnate sleeping bags at professional service points, such as specialist laundries, once every 3-4 seasons).

When to Use Nikwax Down Proof

This product should be used for clothing and equipment filled with down/feathers to maintain their waterproofness in excellent condition. Remember to clean the equipment using Nikwax Down Wash Direct before applying Nikwax Down Proof (there is no need to wait for items to dry between washing and impregnation).
